Instrument lessons are accompanied by lessons in music theory and auditory training. Included in the price of private lessons (except for adults), these lessons are given before or after the student's instrument lesson. They are given in small groups and usually last 30 to 45 minutes. The advanced theoretical courses take place on a fixed day and time (schedule to be determined).
Students each work at their own level and pace. The lessons and exercise books specific to each level have been carefully prepared to meet the learning objectives of the École des Jeunes of the University of Montreal. The theoretical notions are seen through various written exercises and the child's auditory training is developed through music theory and musical dictation (rhythmic and melodic).
For children from 3 to 6 years old, the music theory and auditory training course is replaced by the musical initiation course, also included in the cost of the instrument lessons.
